Book Reports

So proud of every student!!! They did such a great job and each of them were very creative. There were posters, dioramas, and power points. They seemed to enjoy it too. This might be something we will regularly do throughout the year. They spoke so beautifully in Greek when presenting their projects. They should be proud of themselves.

They did such a wonderful job that they deserve a week off from any writing for homework.

Homework: Read first story in lesson 22(p.37) in Mathaino Ellinika and to write any words thet do not know.

Reminder

Just a reminder to tell all parents that the book reports are due on December 3rd and each student should be ready to present. I just wanted all parents to know that we will have a short test after the presentations on December 3rd which will address reading comprehension, listening skill, and writing/grammar. The questions on the test will be something that every student will be able to handle.

Can't wait to see their projects.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!!!

What's new in 4th grade in Greek School

We are having  a great year. I have included centers in our classroom while I work on small groups to focus on small tasks in their reading. The centers have included working on their spelling/vocabulary, writing a response to a prompt or review grammar from previous weeks, reading stories/poems the students have not read before and reading to others, and meeting with me. It has worked out great where the students enjoy doing this and they are working together to help each other. It also gives them a chance to practice certain skills while I work with a group.

I also included a book report project where the students creativity will be a part of this project as well as  having students practice their speaking skills in Greek to the class. There are so many ideas they can use and I will provide it in the next class. Each student needs to bring the book they chose to read for the report.

I hope these new ideas in which I included in the classroom makes it more enjoyful to come to Greek school and will also get the students to practice all aspects of this language.

Homework: Keep working on the book report(We will  also do it in class.).
We will be working on Lesson 21 and in the Grammar book finish Lessons16, 17, and 43.

First Day of Greek School in 4th Grade

There was an informal meeting where I met the students and the parents. Great meeting!! This will be a good way for parents to see what is done at school and to keep in touch. Next week we'll review from last year to get students back in the game of what greek school is after a long summer vacation. Lets have a great year!!!

This blog will consist of what we did in school for that day as well as list what their classwork and homework will be for the day.

I am preparing for a first lesson that will be wonderful.
